Though Lizzo showed love to Lima on Instagram, the pop star has been critical of the Victoria's Secret brand in the past. Ahead of the company reviving it's controversial fashion show in 2024, the "Special" singer took to X with skepticism about the brand's move towards including models across different sizes.
"This is a win for inclusivity for inclusivity’s sake," Lizzo tweeted. "But if brands start doing this only because they’ve received backlash then what happens when the ‘trends’ change again?"
She added, "Do the CEOs of these companies value true inclusivity? Or do they just value money?"

“I have spent the entirety of my life trying to change the way that I look or reshape my body, as if I had to inflict some sort of pain upon it to fit into an archetype or a standard of beauty," Lizzo told Forbes about the inspirations for the business venture in 2022.
She continued, "I’ve been wearing shapewear–tight-pinching corsets and underwear bottoms–for a very long time; since I was in fifth or sixth grade. It was really painful and I really felt that it shouldn’t be this way; we shouldn't be ashamed of our bodies and we shouldn’t have to wear these contraptions to feel beautiful.”
Lizzo has been very open on social media about the weight loss journey she embarked on in 2023 In January, Lizzo revealed on Instagram that she had lowered her body mass index by 10.5 and had lost 16% of her body fat.

"I do something sweet. It's gotta be with some sort of like carb. I'll have like almond butter and toast. So, everybody's body is different. Find out what works for you," she said, noting that she believes the only thing that "works across the board, science-wise, is calories in versus calories out."
